Transmission
The 6-speed manual (6MT) with Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD) found in the WRX STI provides better feel, response and acceleration. The DCCD monitors speed, steering wheel angles and other important data to assess driving conditions and driver input, while splitting torque for optimum turning capability and overall handling. In automatic mode, DCCD distributes torque from 41/59 (front/rear) split to a full 50/50 (front/rear) ratio delivering optimum traction and stability; in manual mode, the driver selects among six settings between 50/50 and 41/59 (front/rear). |

Turbocharger/Intercooler
The SUBARU BOXER engine develops such incredible power thanks in part to its high-boost turbocharger and large STI intercooler. The turbocharger forces air - at a maximum of 14.5 psi of boost - into the combustion chambers providing exceptional power, and the intercooler helps to keep that air cool and oxygen-rich therefore increasing combustion efficiency. The STI intercooler also features a manual water spray to keep air temperatures as low as possible, providing maximum power. |
